Trans-zeatin is an endogenous plant growth regulator belonging to the purine plant cytokinin. It was originally discovered and isolated from young corn cobs and has multiple biological functions. Trans-zeatin has a chemical formula of C10H13N5O. It is a white to yellow powder (crystal) that is insoluble in water but soluble in solvents such as 1M acetic acid, 1M NaOH, alcohol and DMF. Trans-zeatin has two isomers, cis and trans. The trans isomer (trans-zeatin) has stronger biological activity than the cis isomer.

• ■ Promotes callus germination, generally used in combination with auxin at a concentration of 0.5-2.0 mg/L.
• ■ Promotes fruit setting; spraying the entire plant with 10 mg/L zeatin + 25-50 mg/L GA3 + 20 mg/L NAA during peak flowering can increase the fruit setting rate of jujubes.
• ■ Spraying leaves with 20 mg/L can delay yellowing and promote growth.
• ■ Additionally, treating some crop seeds can promote germination.
